Site Selection and Analysis

Perhaps the most exciting and important step in the design process is Schematic Design, when the the interior spaces are apportioned to best meet your needs and desires without forgetting how the interior interfaces spatially with the exterior. Because the needs of each client are unique, as are the dictates of each building site, no two Praxis structures are the same. Solar exposure, view opportunities and privacy, among others, are all carefully considered and incorporated into the home’s design, so that every space conveys a grand and intimate connection between interior and exterior. What will it cost? Seems like a simple question. But ask anyone who has had a custom home designed and many will tell horror stories of construction bids grossly over the original budget and architects refusing to redesign, forcing the client to overspend, scrap the project, or pay for a redesign themselves. At Praxis, not only will we never let this happen, we guarantee it. If your Praxis design is more than 3 percent off your Praxis construction estimate, we will make any necessary design adjustments to get the project back on budget at no additional cost. Once the basic configuration of the spaces and their relationship to the landscape are established, we incorporate into the design appropriate systems that make the spaces comfortable, beautiful and durable. Included among others are passive solar, mechanical, electrical, insulation, structural, cladding and windows. These systems are carefully chosen to enhance the design, maximize energy savings, and provide the high-quality, long-lasting details that are Praxis’s signatures. These sytems ensure your new home functions well and serves your needs long after the last nail is driven home.
We take the mystery out of building. Through our transparent bidding process we show our clients where their money is being spent, down to the last dime. All of our projects are bid on a fixed-cost basis: our bid is our bond. Once the project begins, a detailed construction schedule tells you exactly what will be done and when. Our site supervisors, laborers, and subcontractors are friendly and courteous, comprised of fine local craftsmen and craftswomen. This courtesy even extends to those living next door to our jobsites. Consistent with all of our services, our building projects are finished and delivered to you on budget and on schedule, every time.
